Lot #7

VN-2.260 (Brown and Vernon, /with dragon, satyr and Walpole reverse), McCormick-Goodhart #18, Betts 246.
An Almost Uncirculated (AU-50) example with a botched hole. Copper. Traces of wear or friction on the highest points. Mint luster shows in various locations. Sharp details and lettering. Overall, very attractive medal! Unfortunately someone tried to make a hole in the medal, and worse yet, botched the job so the medal has a small chip missing. Estimate adjusted downward for the damage. VN-2.260 is a relatively common variety. Size: 37½ mm. Weight: 10.7 grams. Estimate: $100 to $150.
