Obverse Design

Legend along the upper edge of the coin says "THE QUARTERMASTER REGIMENT".
Legend along the bottom edge of the coin says "FORT LEE, VIRGINIA". A raised
circle separates these legends from the center of the challenge coin. In the
center is a small design of the Quartermaster insignia.
The insignia is an eagle with spread wings looking to our left mounted
on a wheel. The wheel has thirteen stars along the rim and thirteen spokes
for the thirteen original states. Superinposed on the wheel a key and a sword
cross diagonally (the sword is pointed down). The wheel is surrounded by a
wreath of laurel which terminates under the eagle's wings. Along the bottom
is a banner with the motto "SUPPORTING VICTORY".
Surrounding the insignia
are the names of conflicts or their locations. Above the insignia in two lines
it says "AMERICAN" and "REVOLUTION". To our right from top to bottom, it says
"KUWAIT", "SAUDI" and "ARABIA", "PANAMA", "GRENADA" and "INVASION", "VIETNAM" and
"CONFLICT", "KOREAN" and "WAR". To our right from top to bottom it says
"WAR OF" and "1812", "MEXICAN" and "WAR", "CIVIL WAR", "SPANISH" and "AMERICAN"
and "WAR", "WORLD" and "WAR I".
Below the insignia is the date "1986" and below that
the lines "WORLD" and "WAR" and "II". The date 1986 is when the Quartermaster
Corps joined the U.S. Army Regimental System, and Fort Lee, Virginia was named
as the Corp's regimental home.
The coin has a smooth plain raised edge,
and a plain and smooth background.

Reverse Design

Legend along the bottom edge of the coin says "UNITED STATES ARMY". A raised
circle separates these legends from the center of the challenge coin. In the
center is another design of the Quartermaster insignia. This one has no banner
or wreath, and the head of the eagle is above its wings looking to his right.
Above the insignia along the edge of the inner circle is the legend "SUSTAINER
OF ARMIES SINCE 1775". Below the insignia is the legend "KEY TO LOGISTICS"
and below that a raised smooth box where the name of the recipient can be
engraved.
