Obverse Design
|
Two rectangles are side by side, centered on the chit. The left
rectangle is about 37 mm wide, and the right rectangle is only about 7 mm wide.
The rectangles are about 21 mm high. Across the top of the left rectangle
is a banner in reverse colors which says "POST EXCHANGE". The banner starts
out tall, gets shorter in the middle and then gets tall again at the other end.
The top of the banner stays straight, and it is the bottom of the banner that
curves up in the middle.
In the center under the banner in large font is the denomination "1¢".
On the left of the denomination in two lines of small letters it says "Good"
and "For". On the right of the denomination it says "In" and "Trade".
The next line says "FORT SHERMAN". The following line says "CANAL ZONE".
The bottom line in smaller size says "Not Good If Detached".
The right rectangle has the serial number that reads sideways from top to bottom.
It is "13005" in the example above. The example above was cancelled.
