Panama Coin Dealers

Distribuidores De Moneda De Panamá

The following is a list of the online coin dealers and a short review of their site as pertains to coins of Panama.

After the list of online coin dealers there is are sections for Cob Dealers and Token Dealers.

These reviews are solely my personal opinion of the dealer web sites as of the time of review, presented as a service. I have not purchased from most of the dealers, and can not guarantee their integrity, grading standards, or anything else about them. In other words, do business with these dealers at your own risk - I disclaim all responsibility.

Ratings are awarded between 1 and 10, where 10 is the best. Sites are awarded between 0 and 3 points each for web site design and pricing of Panama coins, and 0 and 4 points for selection of Panama coins.

East Tennessee Coin Company - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 8. A simple web site and easy to navigate (three clicks to Panama coins). East Tennessee Coin Company has a large selection of Panama Coins, mostly minors. The coins appear to be priced at a nice discount compared to Krause catalog prices.

The Coin Exchange, Inc. - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 7. The web site is attractive and fairly simple to use which is very important to me. The Coin Exchange has a somewhat large selection of Panama coins, mostly minors but with some crowns. The coins appear to be priced at a modest discount compared to Krause catalog prices.

The Elusive Spondulix - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 7. This dealer with the creative name has a nice web site; you can be looking at the Panama selection in three clicks. Unfortunately the selection is rather small. It is about evenly divided between minors and larger denominations. The prices appear to be nicely discounted from Krause catalog levels, so worth checking.

Paradise Coin and Gifts - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 7. The web site is fairly straightforward and the coin list is in nice large type. It's a little bit hard to find the Panama coins from the home page, but the link above will take you right to them. Paradise Coin and Gifts has a large selection of Panama minors and a mid-sized selection of crowns. The pricing appeared to me to be fairly close to Krause catalog levels.

Phoenix Enterprises - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 7. An attractive web site and easy to navigate. Panama coins are spread out in different categories such as gold, silver and copper-nickel, and sets. Phoenix Enterprises has a mid-sized selection of mostly large (and rare) denomination gold coins. Prices appear to be close to Krause catalog prices.

Washington Square Coin Exchange - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 7. They call themselves the "Web's Largest Collectable Site". The web site was somewhat busy (too much going on) and navigation was quick but took a little getting used to. Washington Square has a large selection of Panama minors and a mid-sized selection of crowns. Their prices appeared to me to be close to Krause catalog prices.

Harlan J. Berk, Ltd. - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 6. Attractive web site and easy to navigate. Harlan Berk has a relatively small selection of Panama coins evenly split between minors and the larger denominations. Prices appear to be near or perhaps above Krause catalog prices.

Mostly Crowns - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 6. This web site is fairly attractive, and simple to use. Unlike past reviews, Mostly Crowns had only one Panama coin at the time of this review. The coin appear to be priced at a nice discount compared to Krause catalog prices.

R & M World Coins - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 3. R & M World Coins seems to specialize in slabbed and other Panama coins of exceptional quality, at corresponding (above catalog) prices. The selection of Panama coins is rather small, about evenly distributed between minors and larger denominations. The web site is a little too busy for my tastes, but works well.

Panama Cob Dealers

There are so few cobs that were minted in Panama, or even known to be found in Panama, that no dealer could sustain a business as a "Panama Cob Dealer". The following is a short list of online Spanish cob dealers, and they are rated on their overall selection as opposed to their selection of Panama cobs.

Daniel Frank Sedwick - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 9. Daniel Frank Sedwick has an attractive and informative web site, and a large selection of Spanish colonial coins, especially cobs. He is also a good source for books on the subject. Sedwick has sold Panama cobs in the past. It is hard to judge such a limited market, but his prices seem below average. The only thing missing from this web site is a search engine.

New World Treasures - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 8. New World Treasures has an attractive web site. Navigation is easy and the pieces for sale have nice images. Finding cobs is now much easier, although it would still be nice to have a search engine. The selection is large, and the pricing is probably about average.

Notes - Please send me an to suggest a site that should be added, or if one of these links stops working.

Panama Token Dealers

Panama tokens are quite hard to find, and no dealer that I know of keeps even a small selection of Panama tokens in stock. Instead, the dealers listed below are ones were I have occasionally found Panama tokens for sale.

Ratings are awarded between 1 and 10 points, where 10 is the best. Sites are awarded between 0 and 3 points each for web site design and pricing, and 0 and 4 points for selection of Panama tokens.

Anything Anywhere - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: 7. Bob Reis's Anything Anywhere comes the closest of any site I have found to keeping Panama tokens in stock (but none were for sale at the time of this review). The web site is rough to navigate and very busy, but the prices and selection are good. The Panama tokens I've seen are the more common ones.

Exocoin - Reviewed 07-Jun-2007

Rating: nr. Exocoin has a newly redesigned web site. It is fast, and seems very easy to use. However, I did not find any Panama pieces at present. In the past I have found they occassionally get in some really good, hard-to-find Panama tokens.

Exonumia - Reviewed 18-May-2005

Rating: nr. Exonumia's site has a lot of information and links. Rich Hartzog has many books in stock, including some rare ones, and conducts auctions from time to time. He sometimes has Panama related material, especially Panama-Pacific Exposition items. As there is no fixed price list for Panama items, I will not be giving a rating for this site; however, this is definitely a worthwhile site to check out.
