Varieties
|
E.B. Healey issued two "EAGLE BAR" token series and a similar "CRISTOBAL" series.
The two "EAGLE BAR" series have some minor differences, but are most easily
distinguished by looking at the "IN MERCHANDISE" legend on the reverse. In one
series both words are together in one line curving along the bottom edge of the
token. In the other series, "IN MERCHANDISE" appears on two lines; "MERCHANDISE"
curves along the bottom edge of the token and the word "IN" is centered above it.
In the five cents denomination, there are some differences in the obverse design
in regards to which ornaments are displayed and where they are placed (a dash
above and below "EAGLE BAR" as opposed to a dot diamond dot in between "EAGLE"
and "BAR"). As well the "one line" variety is 21 mm in diameter and the
"two lines" variety is 20 mm in diameter.
