VN-2.121 (Cannon, Vernon, Anchor - No Dot), McCormick-Goodhart #98A, Betts # 223.
A Choice Very Fine (VF-30) example. Copper with a silver wash. Overall, an attractive medal. Generally light wear, moderate wear at high points. All major features are present and clear. More than 75% of all the fine detail is present. The letters of the legends are nice and defined. On the
reverse, there are even traces of luster in the deeply recessed areas. Some Admiral Vernon
medals were dipped in a silver wash to try to give them the look of a silver medal. This example retains the silver wash on between 50% and 75% of the surface area. VN-2.121 is a
relatively common variety. Size: 38 mm. Weight: 11.8 grams. Estimate: $100 to $150.
