Below is a catalog or list of numismatic postcards offered for sale and an example. In partnership with Bob Karrer of ICC (see clubs) I have created a series of postcards with a coin photo, a picture that goes along with it and several paragraphs of historical information on the reverse side. So far we have done a total of 52 postcards, including 41 with the coin photos. Subjects include Canal Zone military bases, Colon merchant tokens, Panama railroads and Coffee fincas. Description

I enjoy researching the history behind tokens, medals and coins and seeing photographs of the people and locations involved. This web site is one way I am sharing my research with the rest of the world. Another way is these postcards which combine scans of the coins with vintage and frequently rare photographs of the people and locations. On the back of the postcard is a caption describing both the collectible and the view. These postcards are made available inexpensively to anyone interested. I am also working with the award-winning Panamanian author and numismatist Jorge Proctor to translate these postcards into Spanish as well.

PK-037 (Tenth Infantry on a Hike, Canal Zone, Panama. 5 Cent Token.)
PK-037. Tenth Infantry on a Hike, Canal Zone,
Panamá. The 10th Infantry was stationed at Camp
Otis from October 1911 until May 1917. Camp
Otis was an old labor camp located at Las Cascadas
next to the Culebra Cut. Upon arrival from its
original station in Texas, the 10th Infantry consisted
of 33 officers and 813 enlisted men. In 1917 the
10th Infantry was redeployed to France as part of
the American Expeditionary Force.

The extremely rare five cent token in the photo is
shown at 125% of actual size. It was made of brass
and was 19mm in diameter.

PK-035e. Finca de Café Palo Alto, Panamá. La
fotografía muestra el secado del café en esta finca.
La Finca de Café Palo Alto fue fundada en 1898, en
Boquete, por el Americano James Denham. La
finca tenía 300 hectáreas y era conocida por la alta
calidad de café que producía. Cuando James
Denham murió en un accidente en 1918, el
empresario local Enrique Halphen, dueño de una
cadena de almacenes que después vendería a
Aristides Romero, se convirtió en su nuevo dueño.

La muy rara ficha ilustrada en la fotografía fue
producida por Enrique Halphen y fue utilizada para
pagar a los empleados que recogían las cosechas de
café. Esta ficha esta ilustrada a un 125% de su
tamaño original, el cual es de 26mm en diámetro.
Su fabricación es de aluminio.
